The Carl Sandburg College men’s soccer team saw its four-game winning streak come to an end, but the Chargers extended their unbeaten run to five games with a 1-1 draw at McHenry County on Thursday afternoon.
Sandburg (5-9-2 overall, 5-5-2 Region IV) scored the opening goal in the 20th minute as Luis Juarez (Willis, Texas/Willis) connected off a feed from Mike Pavon (Galveston, Texas/Willis).
The Scots (3-13-1, 3-11-1) got the equalizer in the 40th minute, and the teams played scoreless the rest of the way through overtime.
Saahil Kapoor (Guilford, England/Guilford County) made three saves in net for the Chargers.
Sandburg will host Moraine Valley, tied with Morton atop the Region IV standings, at 4 p.m. Saturday at Kleine Field in the Chargers’ final home contest of the regular season. A free tailgate party with pizza, drinks and games will take place from 3 p.m. until kickoff.
